January 25, 2003 – A worker while working on a roof of a new expansion at Earlton Airport fell approximately 38 feet. The worker was wearing fall protection but was not tied off.

January 28, 2003 – A roof hoist and ladder struck the owner of a sub-contracting firm while standing on the ground of a residential project in Concord. The worker sustained head and leg injuries. The worker succumbed to his injuries on January 29,2003.

February 7, 2003 – A worker working off a ladder on a project in Toronto on an eighth storey balcony fell from the balcony when the ladder slipped.

February 18, 2003 – A worker operating a compactor on a residential project in Aurora received crushing injuries to his head when the compactor over turned.

February 21, 2003 – A worker while descending an extension ladder was struck by another worker who had fallen off the same ladder above him causing both workers to fall to the ground. The worker who was struck sustained fatal injuries on a project in Saugeen Township (Bruce County).

March 13, 2003 – A worker (framer) succumbed to his injuries when he fell 20 feet. The incident occurred on February 14 when the worker was walking across a roof not protected by fall protected and slipped on a project in Vaughan.

March 28, 2003 – A worker who fell approximately 10 feet on March 17 on a project in Scarborough succumbed to his injuries.

April 30, 2003 – A worker succumbed to his injuries that he received on April 28, 2003 during a by-pass on a 6-inch gas line on a project in Windsor when an explosion/fire occurred.

May 6, 2003 – A worker fell from a two storey building on a project in Vaughn.

June 16, 2003 - A worker fell approximately 15-20 feet off a ladder in Etobicoke while window cleaning.

June 18, 2003 – A worker performing the duties of setting up traffic control devices on Hwy. 404 in Markham was fatally injured when struck-by a crash truck that was struck by the motoring public.

June 26, 2003 – A worker (electrician) while working on electrical panel received an electrical shock resulting in 3rd degree burns to 75% of his body on a project in Oakville. The worker succumbed to his injuries on June 27, 2003.

July 4, 2003 – A worker (electrician) working on a residential project in Richmond Hill was electrocuted.

July 5, 2003 – A worker (linesperson) while working on overhead power lines rated at 7200 volts was electrocuted on a project in the Bruce area.

July 8, 2003 – A worker working off a swing stag on a residential project in Mississauga fell approximately 30 feet when one end of the staging collapsed.

July 14, 2003 – A worker was struck-by then run over by a forklift, sustaining injuries to his head and body on a project in Oakville.

July17, 2003 – A worker fell five stories on an ICI project in Brampton sustaining multiply injuries.

July 18, 2003 – A worker on a residential project in Whitby was repairing a leak on a house foundation while working in an excavation that was 9 feet deep, when the wall of the excavation collapsed and buried the worker.

July 30, 2003 – A worker fell approximately 20 feet off structural steel on a project in London.

August 15, 2003 – A worker (roofer) was removing roof-jacks on a project in Tiny Township (Barrie district) was electrocuted when the wind caused the ladder to come into contact hydro lines.

August 19, 2003 – A worker (sign erector) fell on an ICI project in Mississauga and passed away on August 23.

August 25, 2003 – A worker, dump truck operator was electrocuted when the box of the vehicle made contact with an overhead energized power line on a project in the Township of Norwich (Brant district).

September 6, 2003 – A worker working in the basement of a residential project in Milton (Halton district) on August 27 was found unconscious. (later determined to be a fall)

September 12, 2003 – A worker succumbed to his injuries received on August 19, 2003 when he fell 10 feet from a work platform. The worker was sand blasting rebar when one of the wooden planks he was standing on broke resulting in neck and head injuries on a project in Scarborough.

September 24, 2003 – A worker (building inspector) received head injuries when he fell through a stairwell opening on the main floor into the basement of a residential project in Toronto.  

October 1, 2003 – A worker while installing a canopy off a ladder situated on a terrace on a residential home in Toronto fell approximately 15 feet. The worker succumbed to his injuries on October 5, 2003.

October 9, 2003 – A worker (roofer) was found on the ground at a residential project in Mississauga without any vital signs. (later determined to be a fall)

October 20, 2003 – A worker was crushed-by a precast concrete slab on a project in Mississauga.

November 7, 2003 – A worker on October 15 at demolish project in Sault Ste Marie was struck-by a steel door measuring 18 x 19 feet that was leaning up against a wall when it fell over. The worker succumbed to his multiple injuries.

December 3, 2003 – A worker while shingling roof fell approximately 30 feet onto pavement below on a project in Mississauga.
