April 1, 2002 - A 24 year old trim carpenter on a new home being constructed in the Toronto area died as the result of injuries sustained when he fell 10.5 feet through a stair opening and landed on his head on a concrete floor below.

April 2, 2002 - A 70 year old owner of a plant in Peterborough died when he fell 10 feet from a platform while installing a false ceiling.

April 17, 2002 - A roofer sustained fatal injuries when he fell 30 feet through a roof opening on an industrial building in Arnprior.

April 23, 2002 - An electrician succumbed to injuries received when he fell 6 feet from a ladder while working on a government building in Ottawa.

April 26, 2002 - Two concrete form workers, one 24 years old and the other 40 years old died when they fell 180 feet down an elevator shaft at a condominium under construction in Toronto when the platform they were standing on collapsed.

May 15, 2002 - A 20 year old worker was killed when struck by a reversing bobcat on a residential driveway-paving project in Oshawa.

June 2002 - No fatalities.

July 12, 2002 - A 24 year old worker died when she fell from the 4th floor of a health care facility under construction in Walkerton while removing debris from the floor. 

July 19, 2002 - A 30 year old apprentice bricklayer died as the result of injuries sustained on July 17th when she fell from the 4th floor level of a residential project in Stoney Creek while accessing a scaffold.

July 27, 2002 - A 67 year old mechanic died from internal injuries received when a jack that was being used to support equipment, slipped on a project in the Oshawa area, struck him.

August 22, 2002 - A 52 year old worker testing a standpipe died when the pipe exploded under load at a new condominium project in Toronto.

August 30, 2002 - A truck driver standing outside his vehicle was struck and killed by a reversing truck on a rod project in Erin.

August 31, 2002 - A roofing supervisor, signalling a crane, while standing at the edge of a roof, fell approximately 56 feet when the load struck him on a project in Mississauga.

September 26, 2002 - A worker fell 25 feet through a Plexiglas skylight on a roofing project in Stratford.

October 16, 2002 - A 41 year old masonry worker died from injuries sustained on Oct. 11 when he fell approximately 25 feet from a scaffold on a residential project in Curtin township (Sudbury area).

October 23, 2002 - Two workers, ages 67 and 28, a father and son, were working inside a tank when the both received burns resulting from an explosion when epoxy ignited. The father passed away the day of the incident and the son the following day, Oct. 24.

October 31, 2002 - A 62 year old worker, supervisor of a project in Thunder Bay, died as the result of being struck by a dump truck.

November 1, 2002 - A 33 year old worker fell 8 feet from a ladder while installing shelving on a project in Brampton. He succumbed to the injuries received on November 1, 2002.

December 2, 2002 - Two workers painting inside a new house under construction in Sarawak County, London area, died as the result of carbon monoxide poisoning created by a gas powered generator and a salamander operating inside the house.
