January 2000 - No fatalities.
February 23, 2000 - A 38 year old worker died as a result
of injuries sustained when he fell from the roof of a house on February
22, 2000 in Toronto.
March 2000 - No fatalities.
April 2000 - No fatalities.
May 2000 - A 31 year-old roofer sustained fatal injuries
when he fell from the roof of a two-story residence being renovated in
Toronto.
June 19, 2000 - Two workers died as the result of
injuries sustained when the boom of a crane collapsed on a
project at a water treatment facility in Oakville.
July 2000 - No fatalities.
August 10, 2000 - A 51 year old lineman for a hydro
electric commission was electrocuted and died when he came in contact
with an overhead electrical conductor rated at 8000 volts while working from
the bucket of a vehicle mounted aerial device.
September 11, 2000 - A 38 year old glazier was crushed
to death when he was run over by a zoom boom type forklift on a project in
Toronto.
October 3, 2000 - A worker engaged in shingling the roof
of a single family dwelling in Toronto died when he fell from the roof.
October 14, 2000 - A worker was electrocuted and
died as a result of injuries sustained when the aluminum ladder he was carrying
contacted an overhead electrical conductor on a project in Sudbury.
October 14, 2000 - A worker died as the result of
injuries sustained when he was struck by a reversing dump truck on a
road reconstruction project in Thornhill.
November 2, 2000 - A 28 year old painting is missing a
presumed drowned after a suspended scaffold collapsed on a bridge
sandblasting and painting project in Windsor.
November 3, 2000 - A worker was crushed to death
when a forklift he was operating on a residential project in rolled down an
embankment while reversing.
November 9, 2000 - A worker, an electrician, and a
non-worker, the owner, died when the walls of a trench caved in on a
residential project in the Kitchener area.
November 27, 2000 - A 32 year old cement finisher and the
power trowel he was operating went through a metal mesh guardrail system and fell
77 feet to his death on a project in Brampton.
December 11. 2000 - In the Kitchener area, a worker
sustained fatal injuries when he was struck by a concrete sewer pipe
that fell when a cable used to lift it broke. The pipe fell into the trench he
was standing in.
December 19, 2000 - A 61 year old ironworker fell 28
feet to his death while laying steel decking onto a structural steel beam
assembly in Richmond Hill.
