WHMIS Training
WHMIS
regulations were enacted into law in 1988 and apply
to all workplaces which the Occupational Health and Safety Act Applies. The
basic right that came from WHMIS is ‘The Right to Know’. We all have the right
to know what hazardous materials we are working with. Any worker who works with
or is likely to be exposed to any hazardous materials must receive proper WHMIS
training and must be reviewed on an annual basis. This includes 100% of all
workplaces.
WHMIS is comprised of 3 main components:
-
Worker Education
-
Labels
-
Material Safety Data Sheets
We also discuss:
-
Hazardous Physical Agents, such as noise, vibration, ultraviolet light,
radiation.
-
Control methods.
-
The effects on the human body.
